As winter is blowing in, it can be challenging to stay active with the colder temperatures and fewer daylight hours. The Winter Wiggle is a chance to get outside, be active, share with the Kippy community, and donate to the Kippewa Scholarship Fund, if you are able.

Initially, the Kippewa Winter Wiggle started as a way to keep our community moving and connected during a challenging time of the pandemic.

How to Wiggle

There are many different ways that you can wiggle. Some examples to wiggle are walking, jogging, horseback riding, water skiing, dancing, flying a kite, and so many more!

After you wiggle, share with the community on what you chose to do. Post on social media and share with others to stay connected with the Kippy community. People enjoy staying active in different ways.  No matter how you wiggle, we hope you have fun doing it!

How to Prepare

  • Stay hydrated: Drink lots of fluids before, during and after you wiggle. Water is the best option, but sports drinks such as Gatorade, Powerade, Body Armor, etc. will work as well!
  • Wear appropriate clothing: Kippewa is all over the world during the regular year. Appropriate clothing for campers that live in California will most likely be different than campers in New York. When it is warm or cooler out, wear loose-fitting clothing. When it is cold outside, layers of clothing will be your best friend!
  • Warm up and cool down: When it is cold outside, your body becomes tighter which can cause injury. A proper warm up and cool down will make a huge difference in how your workout feels and how you recover afterwards. Stretching is a great way to warm up and cool down.
  • Sunscreen: Even though the sun may not be as bright as it would be during the summer at Kippewa, you still need to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
