BUNK LIFE

At Kippewa, your cabin is more than just a place to sleep—it’s a home away from home. Living together in a bunk is at the heart of the camp experience, where friendships are formed, inside jokes are born, and lifelong memories are made.

Comfortable & Cozy Cabins

Each of our unique and charming cabins has everything campers need to feel comfortable and settled at camp. All cabins include:

  • Private bathrooms with showers, sinks, and stalls

  • Electricity and screened, glass-paned windows for fresh air and natural light

  • Comfortable wooden bunk beds and personal cubbies for storage

  • A screened-in porch (for most cabins), with many offering scenic lake views

  • Historic touches, including decorative stone fireplaces and walls filled with camper-made bunk plaques from decades past

Campers are grouped into bunks based on the grade they will enter after the summer. Each bunk houses eight to twelve girls, along with three dedicated counselors who help foster a sense of community, fun, and support.

Life in the bunk is all about togetherness. Campers share meals, unwind during rest hour, and laugh through evening activities with their bunkmates. Our cabins are filled with girls from all over the world, creating a vibrant and welcoming community where differences are celebrated, and friendships span across cultures.

From late-night giggles and choreographed skits to handwritten notes, each bunk at Kippewa develops its own traditions and personality. Alumni love visiting camp years later and finding their old bunk plaques—proof that the memories they made at Kippewa still live on.

We take food seriously at Kippewa—because camp food should be delicious, nutritious, and something to look forward to! Meals are served family-style, bringing campers and counselors together around the table. Our menus offer balanced, kid-friendly, and flavorful options, including:

  • Salad bars, pasta bars, and vegetarian choices at every meal

  • Breakfast bars with fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, and more

  • Sunbutter & jelly station (our nut-free PB&J alternative) available all day

  • Daily snacks including fresh fruit, homemade cookies, and ice cream treats

  • Outdoor BBQs & lakeside lunches several times a week

  • Closing-session Maine lobster bake, a beloved Kippewa tradition

Campers leave Kippewa raving about the food—and sometimes even trying to recreate their favorite camp meals at home!

A TYPICAL DAY

Every day at Kippewa is filled with adventure, creativity, and choice.

Campers choose their preferred activities each week, receiving a customized schedule of five activities per day including an alternating land sports and swim period. A few times a week they also get to pick activities for Options Days or for morning Free Choice, where they can try something new or spend more time doing things they already love.

We encourage girls to step outside their comfort zones. Each week, campers select new activities, giving them the freedom to mix it up, refine their skills, or explore something entirely new all while embracing the joy of nature and summer fun. No two weeks at Kippewa are the same—because your summer should be as unique as you are!

We maintain a strong partnership with a pediatric telehealth practice, and we are within 20 minutes of two hospitals, ensuring that additional medical care is always within reach if needed.
