ABOUT KIPPEWA
WELCOME TO KIPPEWA!
We’re delighted that you’re exploring Kippewa for your daughter’s summer adventure. Nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Cobbosseecontee in Monmouth, Maine, our all-girls camp offers a perfect blend of fun, friendship, and personal growth. Whether you’re a returning camp family or considering your very first summer away, you’ll find that Kippewa is a warm, welcoming, and vibrant community.
At Kippewa, we offer three distinct programs designed to meet the interests and needs of girls entering grades 2 through 10 (ages 7–15):
Camp Kippewa: Our flagship 3½-week session where traditions come alive—from opening campfires to Color War and closing banquets.
Camp Kippewa Point: Our dynamic two-week camp that offers a complete camp experience in a shorter time frame.
Kippewa Equestrian Academy: For those with a passion for horses and riding, this program focuses on an equestrian lifestyle with classic camp fun built in.
Each program is thoughtfully designed to ensure that every camper, regardless of age or experience, is part of our close-knit community.

WELCOMING OUR NEW CAMPERS
At Kippewa, we welcome new campers with open arms. Whether your daughter is just starting out in 2nd grade, is ready to dive into camp life at 11, or is seeking a fresh experience as a teen, she will quickly feel at home. Our dedicated counselors lead engaging tours, fun name games, and interactive icebreakers that help every girl connect, make friends, and build confidence from day one.
Before camp even begins, we take the time to get to know every new camper, ensuring she’s set up for the best possible experience. Through personalized conversations and detailed questionnaires completed by both parents and campers, we learn about each girl’s interests and excitement, allowing us to match her with the ideal bunkmates and counselors.
For those eager to connect early, we pair interested girls as pen pals to help them feel connected before ever arriving at camp. We are also in touch throughout the year with updates, mailings, and news to help our new campers develop a genuine taste of what Kippewa is all about.
When campers arrive, they’re immediately introduced to their counselors and bunkmates. We are very intentional with taking time to get to know each other while also settling in. Our counselors help the girls unpack, lead them on a tour and scavenger hunt around camp, and introduce fun, get-to-know-you name games, ensuring that every girl feels included from the start. With pre-assigned beds that instantly feel like home, bunk nights to build bonds from the start, and “camp sisters” paired up during the first week, new campers quickly find friends and a support system, making Kippewa their new summer home in no time.

OUR SUMMER HOME
There is something about our unique setting that just makes it a natural choice for summer camp. We are located on gorgeous Lake Cobbosseecontee, surrounded by majestic pines, fresh Maine air, loons calling on the lake, fireflies blinking in the twilight, and the full beauty of a clear night sky once the sun has set. We invite you to take a look around, there really is nothing quite like the beauty and feeling of Kippewa!
OUR APPROACH
Since Kippewa was founded in 1957, our approach to camp has remained the same—we believe the best camp experience happens when girls arrive together, experience camp together, and say goodbye together. That’s why our three camps—Camp Kippewa, Camp Kippewa Point, and Kippewa Equestrian Academy—operate as their own unique experiences, each with the same warm and nurturing feel that Kippewa is known for.
Over the years, as Kippewa has evolved and grown to meet the needs of today’s families, we’ve seen firsthand how our structure strengthens friendships, builds confidence, and encourages campers to take healthy risks in a supportive environment.
Each part of camp—the excitement of arrival, the growth and adventure in the middle, and the special traditions at the end—plays an important role in the summer. When campers are on the same timeline as their bunkmates and camp friends, they share every part of the experience, strengthening their connections and making memories that last long after they leave. For us, it’s not just about what happens at camp—it’s about how those shared experiences shape who they become!
No matter which of our camps they attend, our campers explore new skills, build friendships, and step outside their comfort zones with the support and care of their camp family.
EXPLORE OUR THREE CAMPS
Our traditional three-and-a-half-week experience that fosters adventure, creativity, and personal growth. With a customized schedule, campers design a summer that reflects their unique interests and passions.
Our complete two-week traditional camp experience, where campers engage in a wide range of activities through a unique hybrid scheduling approach that balances structure with the freedom to explore their interests.
Our specialized equestrian camp designed for riders of all levels, featuring top-tier instruction and a world-class facility.
OUR BROTHER CAMP
Camp Cobbossee, located just a half-mile away on the same serene lake, offers a complementary experience for siblings, cousins, and friends. While Camp Kippewa provides a nurturing all-girls environment, Camp Cobbossee gives campers the opportunity to mingle with boys during special events like our combined Carnival, cookouts, and evening programs.
